I first saw Diana Trout do piles of rocks in her sketchbook and I immediately fell in love with the idea. Since then i've seen others, and they always interest me. I particularly like making rocks with my Pentel Pocket Brush Pen (I love saying it out like that) because of the variation on thickness that this brush pen gives so effortlessly.
Mostly, though, I think I love the Dr Seuss ridiculously precariously piled nature of these rocks. I actually do think about points of balance AS IF they were sketches of real piles - would they balance - and then pushing it a bit further.
And this is, apparently, my go to flower. I think everyone has a go-to flower shape. This daisy is mine. Although maybe it's a rudbeckia.
