I'm trying to get myself set up again with a workable travel sketchbook. I enjoyed doing the Everyday Matters prompts, but got stuck at some point and fell away from it. I am starting again. I think I got a little fixated on doing the list and got away from the idea, which is just to sketch everyday - everyday ordinary things. I can't always find the things from 'the list' and yet ... I certainly am surrounded by things.
Going shopping last weekend - or I should say doing the driving for people shopping last weekend - I made a point of bringing a bigger sketchbook to try out. I love the size and feel of this one - it's by the Hand co I think. But the paper pilled very quickly if I scrubbed at all trying to lift the paint. I'm going to continue to use it, but I'll have to be careful about what I put down.
Which makes me glad I'm actively using my watercolor paper journal. Or sort of actively using it. Actively thinking about using it more than I actively am.
I'm also playing more with pigments and palettes. I just can't help myself.
