This was a sketchbook I started for an on-line class I was taking. But then I didn't really follow along with the class because of some medication issues that made me a little crazy for a while (no seriously). Then I used it for another on-line class that I didn't really follow along with because my shoulder went a little crazy and I stopped sleeping which -makes me quite crazy.
I muddled along with it. I peek back at the classes now and again and try to get into the swing of them. Hasn't happened the way I'd hoped, but they are still out there and I've started sleeping again, so you never know.
This was one of the new Strathmore 400 series soft cover journals that they've put out. I think it's 9x6 or there abouts, portrait orientation. I LOVED working in this. The paper is cold press, and the one thing I would change would be to have hot press, which it turns out I like more. But still, as I am clearly trying to move toward better paper, this was a pleasure. Not crazy expensive, good size, forgiving sizing.
Even these last two sketches, which were the last ones I did in the book, came out better than they should have. I was having a bad night - very impatient. The watercolor bled all over since I didn't wait for anything to dry. Then I was able to correct it a bit. Then it did some interesting things on it's own.
I'm glad this book is done, because it so clearly coincided with feeling not so great, but it also gave me a place to push myself into a better mood. I'm all for that.
